When it comes to live music, the electricians, welders, carpenters, and other skilled tradespeople are as important as, if not more important than, the musicians themselves. As fewer and fewer job seekers look to the skilled trades as employment opportunities, Metallica founded All Within My Hands, an organization that provides scholarships and education to those interested in joining the skilled trades as they relate to live music production.

For Labor Day 2021, Carhartt partnered with All Within My Hands to host a workshop about the skilled trades in the music industry. To recruit participants, we took inspiration from the story of Metallica’s founding.
